The reason why your detox won’t work

One of the FAQ’s I receive is about detox/cleanse programs. Individuals want to know the best detox plan to follow to get maximum weight loss results in the shortest amount of time. This question makes me cringe, and here’s why.
Many of the juice detox recipes contain natural ingredients with antioxidants that promote health which is great! The drink itself is not my issue. Dieters decide to complete a 7 to 21 day juice cleanse. The individual loses weight and feel fantastic! Once the challenge is over the weight creeps back on. You know why? Because you committed to the detox/cleanse, but you didn't commit to improving your health. To lose weight permanently you must commit to the lifestyle!
You can do a juice/cayenne pepper cleanse every other month but you will continually chase your tail, losing and gaining the same 10lbs. The primary reason cleanses work for weight loss is because they dramatically decrease your caloric intake! Your stomach appears flatter for a short amount of time because you ingested a ton of fiber which aided in the digestive process, and stopped eating foods that cause bloat. You’ll feel great for a short amount of time because you are not ingesting processed food products. Sure, you’ll lose weight, but you will gain it back as soon as you return to normal eating habits.
Starving yourself ruins the way your body processes food into energy. This process is called metabolism, and it is responsible for your body’s cellular regeneration. Starving yourself affects your body in many ways other than fat loss. Extremely low caloric intake can lead to the destruction of body organs. It’s unreasonable to think that you will drink shakes and take fat burning pills instead of eating food for the rest of your life. The weight loss from these methods create a false sense of accomplishment, and leave you frustrated with yourself for gaining the weight back. These methods are unsustainable! We are human! We eat food!
There is no quick fix. If you want it you must work for it. It’s tough, but it is so worth it! Throughout my weight loss journey I never turned to a juice cocktail or starved myself to lose weight. I advocate good clean foods. I blend fruits, vegetables, essential oils and spices such as ginger, cinnamon for their medicinal benefits. I have learned healthier methods to prepare meals and I challenge you to do the same! Try healthy foods you've never eaten. Follow a realistic meal plan to get real results.
